New Invisible Clear Aligner solutions to straighten teeth – and 3D printing.

You are an adult looking to have straight teeth, having seen your son or daughter’s smile dramatically improve with braces OR you are a young adult who has had braces as a teen, but did not wear your retainers, and has some mild crowding in the upper and/or lower teeth. Yet you are not keen on braces, but would like a better, more confident smile. Then you heard about clear aligners.

What are Clear Aligners?

There are now newer ways to straighten teeth, which are clear  aligners that move the teeth in stages, and are changed every 1-2 weeks. They are also removable which make it easier for you to brush your teeth or for eating. How they work is a series of 3D printed models are generated that move your teeth in increments, using a 3D printer, and a clear removable retainer like material called aligners is made that moves the teeth. (see diagram below which shows sequence of straightening of the front teeth, denoted by arrows)

So what Clear Aligner solutions does Smiles & Faces Orthodontics offer?

In our practice, we offer a range of different aligners solutions, ranging from Invisalign® for very crowded or spaced teeth, to our own aligners for mild to moderate crowded or spaced teeth that are able to straighten your teeth efficiently and effectively.

The benefit of these aligners is that there is a faster production time as they are made locally, therefore you are able to start treatment sooner. Typically, your first aligners can arrive 2 weeks after the scan of your teeth.

There are often small tooth coloured bubbles that are temporarily bonded to some teeth, placed at the beginning or during treatment, which are removed at the end of treatment.

Below are 2 recent examples of such adults who had mild to moderate crowding and were only seeking improvement in their lower teeth (Case 1) or upper teeth (Case 2)
